Darren Farm, Vale of Glamorgan
Services: Urban Design, Landscape Architecture
In early 2017 The Urbanists were part of the successful Taylor Wimpey tender bid for the land at Darren Farm in Cowbridge, The Vale of Glamorgan. The site benefitted from outline consent for 475 homes. Following the successful bid we were subsequently commissioned to take forward the detailed architectural and landscape design for the phased Reserved Matters planning applications.

The masterplan focuses on a new green place to live that will meet the needs of the community whilst integrating sensitively into the local context. Our continuous aim is to design a scheme that will be an attractive, enjoyable and safe new neighbourhood on the edge of Cowbridge, complementing its historic and attractive character. The proposed development has been designed to provide an interesting and integrated residential environment for people to live in, with landscape and richness of the built environment being seamlessly connected. A key aim is create a community with a real sense of place and a distinctive community of the highest quality that will draw on the local context including scale, massing, landscape and built form.
The phase 1 application has been approved with the phase 2 application submitted in March 2018.
