Hodsons Mill, Robertsbridge (Sussex)
Client: Hodsons Mill Developments
Location: Robertsbridge, Sussex
Service: Landscape Design & Landscape Visual Impact Assessment
The Urbanists were appointed as the landscape architects for the redevelopment of this brownfield site in Sussex for circa 100 unique homes.
The site is challenging because it is located within an AONB and contains buildings of local interest and listed buildings while having challenging topographic, ecological and hydrological constraints.
We have worked closely with the planning consultant, Rapleys, and the architect, ADD to prepare a package of landscape advice to support the application.
At the outset the LVIA establised the baseline conditions and assesses the potential impact of the development upon the wider landscape. The recommendations for landscale mitigation from the LVIA, as well as the input of ecologists and arboriculturalists have informed our landscape strategy for the site. Our role has been to support a detailed planning application with developed proposals for hard and soft works which are informed by a robust landscape masterplan.
The application was submitted and approved in 2017.
