We are pleased to confirm that we have submitted an outline planning application to Newport City Council for the redevelopment of the former Whiteheads Steelworks site. The redevelopment proposals include 498 new homes (50% of which will be affordable), a 50-bed residential care home and a mix of commercial uses. The proposals will transform the 17 ha development site that has been derelict for over 10 years
The development is being delivered by the Whiteheads Development Company and is supported by Welsh Government. Economic analysis identifies that the redevelopment proposals will deliver a £140 million boost to the local economy and support up to 1,500 jobs. We will be working closely with Newport City Council over the next two months to progress the application so that construction can commence in 2016.
