Design & Access Statements in Wales

The Welsh Government is currently consulting on proposed changes to the requirements for Design and Access Statements in Wales following the research project that The Urbanists undertook with Cardiff University.   It is proposed to now take forward  key recommendations from our report including: to remove the  requirements for DASs for minor developments;  and to remove the requirement for a DAS to have to comply strictly with the headings and content requirements that are currently set out in planning guidance and legislation (access, movement, environmental sustainability, community safety, character). These measures are proposed to reduce unnecessary burdens and also to ensure that a DAS is used appropriately in the development management process. The consultation ends on 26/10/15.
