Trimsaran Primary School

Client: Dawnus Construction

Location: Trimsaran, Camarthenshire

The Urbanists are appointed as planning consultants and landscape architects to deliver a new £6.8m primary school in Trimsaran, Carmarthenshire, on behalf of Dawnus and Carmarthenshire County Council.  The school will accommodate 210 pupils and be built to Passivhaus standards and BREEAM Excellent.  The school includes a new main point of access, staff car parking, formal play areas, and landscape works.  The building location and design was constrained by the need to retain the operational school while the replacement school is being constructed.

The planning consultancy work, including formally agreeing the scope of the planning application, directing the community engagement process, and co-ordinating the consultant team for provision of comprehensive technical reports.  The potential impact on existing surrounding residential properties was of particular importance in the planning considerations (access. drainage, construction methodology, building location)  which was fully addressed in the robust submission. Full planning permission was granted in March 2016. The Urbanists are retained as planning consultants for the construction phase,  which started in April 2016.
