Client: Cottingham Design Group
Location: Abu Dhabi
Services: Urban Design, Landscape Architecture, Masterplanning
The Urbanists were retained by Cottingham Design Group, Dubai, to provide supporting Masterplanning, Urban and Landscape Design services for a 4 million m2 resort and residential development nestled between Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
Qasr Al Jurf lies along one of the most pristine coastlines in the Emirates - Sahel Al Emarat. Building on the vision of Sheikh Zayed, this destination offers a tranquil retreat for people seeking an escape from the city life and wanting to immerse themselves within nature. Featuring coastal ranches and chalets amongst lush green forestry, canal frontage villas and a wide range of residential typologies, the development will provide a diverse leisure based lifestyle supported by moderated retail and F&B facilities.
Envisaged as a catalyst development that will generate Abu Dhabi’s new Riviera concept along the Sahal al Emarat coastal zone, Qasr Al Jurf is currently in Detailed Planning for Phase 1 and concept planning for the remaining 4 phases. The project features existing historic buildings that will be sensitively recommissioned as community facilities and a significant wealth of natural resources including forest zones originally instigated by Sheikh Zayed, native Fauna and key turtle sanctuaries that will be enhanced and enlarged to encourage broader breeding and egg laying grounds.
